Feehan’s Policy Debate Team

Lydia Nassef

The Bishop Feehan Policy Debate Team is back and in full swing this year! They have been preparing for this time with Mr. Speidel all year and are in the midst of the competition season. The captains are varsity negatives Sheila Corkery and Claire Bleou, as well as varsity affirmative Patrick McGee. Policy debate teams are made up of two types of partner teams: affirmatives and negatives. Affirmatives create plans that solve a problem (the “resolved,” or the topic for the year), and negatives argue that the affirmative plan is inadequate. This year’s resolved has to do with the U.S. protecting water resources. The team has already had lots of fun this year, even though meets are still on zoom due to COVID. Teammates hang out at school before and after meets and discuss their excitement and experiences! The last meet of the season is on March 3, when the championship will take place! Wish them luck!!
