The term originates from the powder puff, the soft material used for the application of cosmetic facial powder. Powderpuff Football, a tradition started by Mark T. Sheehan High School in 1972. The name is a play on words using the term to describe its players who as females generally wore the makeup. In the United States the powderpuff games are football games which include flag football or touch games between girls from junior and senior classes. The games are an annual tradition at many high schools across the country. Bishop Feehan’s junior and senior classes kept the tradition going this year, playing this past Monday night, November 20th. Feehan Seniors took home the gold once again this year after their surprising win against the class of 2023 last year.
