ALMOST MONDAY is a band made up of three members, Dawson Daugherty, Cole Clisby, and Luke Fabry. The band advertises itself as an “Indie-Pop/Indie-Rock Trio,” which is an accurate descriptor of their music.
A little background for the band: like most bands, they started in someone’s garage. They inevitably made it into the scene in 2020, with their debut song “broken people.” From here, they continued to make music and racked up praise from multiple sources such as “Forbes,” “People,” and “Flaunt.”
The band recently released their newest album, DIVE, which is one of the major reasons for the writing of this review. Speaking of review reasons, ALMOST MONDAY actually reached out to Feehan, sent some posters, and requested that we give them a little promotion as well as a review, and thus this article is made! ‘Rock Report had the honor of having the opportunity to review this band and here is what I think:
Their music, performed by Dawson while Cole and Luke back him up with instrumental, has a very beachy, upbeat sound. Most if not all of their songs consist of coming of age themes and are seemingly quite relatable to those who listen. They describe their music as “Infectious”, and “energetic”.
The videos that accompany their music have almost a dreamlike feeling, with very liminal backdrops such as large fields, beaches, and deserts. The videos themselves have unique stories, such as the “CANT SLOW DOWN’ music video I received, which shows the trio finding a large egg and then battling a large bird to see who keeps said egg.
Their video for their song “Jupiter” has them using a trampoline to travel to Jupiter. These wacky concepts are what make their videos special.
As for a review of the band: they’re objectively a good band. Their songs are as they described: catchy, energetic, and very beachy-sounding. They captivate their audience by integrating their background music and lyrics almost seamlessly.
Their music videos, while bizarre, are similar to other strange music videos of the 2000s. Judging by their strong online presence and their upbeat attitudes, they seem to have a lot of fun performing.
All in all, ALMOST MONDAY is a great band, with catchy songs, fun music videos, and just an overall air of fun to them. I would wholeheartedly recommend that you listen to their music, even as someone who doesn’t listen to this type of music all that often. If you have some free time, maybe switch on one of their songs and take a listen.
If you really want to give these guys a try, they’re touring through the US and Europe throughout the months of March, April, May, June, and July. They will visit places such as California, Tennessee, Spain, and Paris. Hope you all have a great time listening to their music!
