On January 31st, Feehan’s Theatre Department will take the stage in their production of the highly acclaimed Broadway musical, Hadestown. Bishop Feehan is one of the first ever high schools in Massachusetts to claim Hadestown as their own.
Hadestown highlights a unique version of an Ancient Greek myth, telling a story about two teenagers, Orpheus and Eurydice, who fall in love while dealing with harsh conditions and poverty in the Underworld. Matthew Roslonek ‘26 and Sophia Castro ‘25 will set the scene as these two characters on opening night. When asked why one should go see Hadestown, Sophia responded, “Everyone worked really hard on it and I think that everyone who is in it really put their heart into it.”
Matt was asked the question, “What has been the hardest part of balancing student life and life at rehearsal?’ He replied, “It’s kind of hard to balance, but right now it is probably the worst because it is tech week and midterms. Last week was really hard because we had to study, and that was the prime time to study for midterm exams.” Even though these actors are extremely busy, they still manage to always persevere for the greater good of the new production.
Another critical figure of the Theatre Company at Bishop Feehan is Ryan Poisson ‘25, the head stage manager for the musical. His favorite part of being in the Feehan Theatre Company for the past four years was the personal growth he had each year when working backstage. When he was asked to give advice to any incoming freshman, or anyone who is debating doing stage management, he responded, “If I could give any advice, I would say to enjoy it. Being a stage manager is a lot of work, but if you enjoy it, make friends along the way, and smile, it will make your job so much better.”
With all of the tremendous time and work each and every one of the actors and stage crew put into this show, Feehan’s Hadestown is definitely a must-watch on everyone’s list for this upcoming weekend.
