Are you innovative and interested in business? Do you want to hear insight from experienced guest speakers about the accounting career path? Would you like to be more informed and well-rounded in the language of accounting? Attend the Accounting Club! The Accounting Club, run by accounting teacher Mrs. Luongo, is a newly established Feehan club that does all that is previously listed and more! Brought about at the end of September 2024, the Accounting Club has already hosted three amazing guest speakers, and it has had many innovative discussions.
On November 14, 2024, the Accounting Club hosted its first guest speakers, Mr. Jim Castro ‘87 and Mr. Mike Castro ‘88. The two spoke to the club about the steps they each took in their accounting careers, and they provided insightful advice about the process of becoming a CPA. With both men having years of experience in the world of accounting, their words gave the club members insight into the various pathways one can take with an accounting degree. The most valuable advice given by the Castros was that accounting is not a job heavily involving math and boring daily tasks, but rather a creative job that allows one to interact with their clients and facilitate their financial processes.
On December 5th, 2024, Isabella Simoneau ‘20 returned to Feehan and gave a highly valuable and informative presentation to the Accounting Club. Having graduated high school four years prior, Bella is currently studying to become a CPA at UMass Amherst Isenberg. Her presentation included information about resumes, internships, studying business, and selecting a firm to work at. The club’s Juniors and Seniors appreciate hearing all of these important topics and valuable information be presented from someone close to their age, and they will surely utilize it during the pursuit of their college education and future careers.
