While school doesn’t end until May, most seniors check out in December because that’s when many college decisions come out. Since the wait is finally over, there is no more stress. The mindset “I’m already committed to college my grades don’t matter” is very popular.
I know this feeling all too well. It’s tempting to think about leaving Feehan for good, but as seniors, we have to make the most of the time we have left. Senioritis is very contagious but also dangerous. By checking out of school, you lose focus which can lead to bad grades.
Ways to avoid senioritis are to set reachable goals for yourself and to create an incentive. Focusing on senior year is the key. I myself got into the colleges of my choice. The last few weeks my assignments have been piling on. Like all seniors, I’m incredibly exhausted and counting down the days until graduation. Until then, I’ve immersed myself in school events, focused on friendships, and have got rid of any distractions that keep me from completing my schoolwork.
