The college application process can be stressful for seniors like me, with so much information constantly coming our way. On Wednesday, September 18th, a college fair was held for seniors and juniors, offering us the chance to gather more information about potential schools.
As I’m still in the thick of my own college process, I prepared for the fair by making a list of colleges I wanted to explore further. During my junior year, I selected my major and identified schools that matched my interests. This year, I focused on schools I hadn’t yet toured, which still aligned with my academic goals.
To get some insight into the event, I spoke with members of our guidance counseling department, Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Altham. When I asked Ms. Altham how the fair could help students plan for college, she explained that it gives juniors a valuable opportunity to explore schools early and allows students of both grades to meet with college representatives face-to-face. I could really relate to this, as I remember feeling overwhelmed and lost before last year’s college fair. Speaking with representatives in person helped me feel more confident about my options and reassured me about my major of choice.
I also asked Mrs. Taylor how she managed to bring 73 college representatives to the fair and coordinate such a large event. She explained that the process involved contacting representatives, partnering with Strivescan, sending reminders to students, and organizing logistics to ensure students could meet with the schools.
The fair was a big success, thanks to the hard work of everyone involved. As a senior, I’m incredibly grateful to the entire Feehan community for dedicating their time and effort to make it possible.
Since every student has their own unique perspective, I also interviewed my classmate, Lyv Belbin to get her thoughts on the fair. She found it informative, noting that it answered many of her questions and helped her clarify where she might want to apply.
