As the new school year begins, so do the beloved Feehan traditions for our seniors! This year, the seniors continued the annual ‘Senior Sunrise’ by gathering bright and early on the first full day of school, September 3rd. To commemorate the seniors’ “last first day” of school, students connected with the rest of their class by taking pictures, setting up camp to watch the sunset, and eating breakfast together while the sun rose over McGrath Stadium.
Coming together as a class, the seniors started their last year here at Feehan off right: surrounded by fellow classmates and ready to enjoy the rest of the year’s senior activities. Many students brought blankets, cameras, and a Dunkin’ drink! Although many students might not want to get to school at 6:00 a.m. every morning, Senior Sunrise was a great way to foster excitement for the first day of classes and the rest of the school year. This tradition has remained an important senior activity because starting the year off as a strong Feehan community is symbolic, helping to create long lasting relationships and memories that carry on into the future.
Along with Senior Sunrise, the seniors were able to participate in a fun charity drive by bringing children’s backpacks to school on their first day. These backpacks, seen all throughout the school on Tuesday, were not only for fashion purposes: after school, children’s backpacks were donated to children in need to allow seniors to start the year off by giving back to the community. By giving families with young children more resources for education that might not be readily available to them, seniors can feel satisfied knowing that small acts of kindness can change a child’s life.
