As a student at Feehan, it is easy to get lost in the amazement of this new facility, but it truly takes a moment to go behind the scenes and see what it took to get us to where we are now with this project. It’s not often that any school gets a brand-new building, never mind, a state-of-the-art Arts and Innovation Center makes it easy to forget how it was brought to us. Let’s dive deeper into the steps that were taken. As stated by Principal Mr. Kane, “A five-year plan was put into place after a full weekend in which students, faculty, staff, and alumni all came to campus and decided on what they wanted to pursue for this campus. An Innovation center that catered to not just one subject but many, was agreed upon ” (Mr. Kane). A capital campaign was launched to raise the most amount of money in Bishop Feehan’s History for 13 million dollars. This campaign would soon bring historic donation records along with other contributions that brought us to our goal. This weekend took place in 2018, just two years before the global pandemic. That did not stop our plan to build this center. Although it did delay the arrival of some of the materials that were needed, up to 9 months. Once everything had arrived, workers broke ground in preparation for having the innovation center up and running by the following fall during the spring of 2022. This fall Bishop Feehan ceremony unveiled the building as set up by the Social Advancement Office. Who had to consider scheduling and weather and prepare a VIP contact list, speakers, and prayers. When rain was in the forecast, preparation was put into place. The event ran smoothly and made our campus even better than it already was.
